Need someone who loves dogs (pet children) as much as we do
We are going to Europe for 3 weeks in march 2013. We are looking for someone to stay at our house for the only reason to look after our english bulldog. He is actually treated and seen as our child in our family and we are very nervous about leaving him. He is very laid back and not super active although he goes for a couple of walks a day and does demand lots of attention, he is an indoor dog and is never left outside alone. This would technically be as though you where babysitting someones child for 3 weeks.
A little about our house, we live in a lovely renovated miners cottage in Wickham, Newcastle, it is only a 10 minute walk into the city, and honeysuckle the harbour is at the end of the street. Walking distance to alot of beautiful restaurants and all the best parts of newcastle. The beach is a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away. The house is easy to keep clean and there wont be much maintenance needed apart from cleaning dog hair and thats about it.
Like i mentioned before the main requirements are basically constant care for the bulldog, as i am with him 24/7 so he isnt used to being alone for long periods of time, although a couple of hours is not a problem.
A mature responsible person or couple (preferably over 50) would be fine, but must be a dog lover, and not mind the bulldog getting up in your personal space. We would also like someone that will be home most of the day, so the bulldog wont be alone for long periods of time as he is an inside dog and is never left outside, while we are out, (too many dogs, particularly bulldogs get stolen in this area for dogs fights etc) 3 hours is usually the maximum amount of time for him to be left alone inside.
He likes to goto the park in the morning and afternoon for a 15 minute run around and this is when he will do his daily poops.
Yes you could call us crazy dog people, we see our bulldog motley, as equal to any other living being human or not, and would expect the sitter to do the same with motley.
