As usual a last minute trip to London means I need a housecarer for from Thurs 5 to Mon 10 Dec. I'll be leaving first thing on Fri morning and getting back on Mon afternoon.
New (old) house this time as I've moved from La Romieu to the small village of Castéron midway between St Clar (Gers) and Beaumont de Lomagne (Tarn et Garonne).
The beautiful house has a lovely atmosphere and is all on one level and therefore very easy to look after. There's an amazingly efficient woodburner in the dining kitchen and electric radiators in bedrooms/bathroom.
Laurel, my 12-year old black cat, has settled in nicely but does sometimes get disturbed by an 'intruding' tabby who obviously had the run of the garden until we arrived. Needs watching for!
Views south to the Pyrenees from all the main rooms and a long covered terrace to the east. Wifi access.
Unlike La Romieue, you need a car for the shops in St Clar (8kms), Beaumont (everything including big Sat market – 10kms) or Lavit (basic - 8kms). Lectoure and Fleurance which both have everything are 30/20 mins away respectively.
As I've only been in a month, things aren't totally sorted yet. Guest accommodation is currently in the study with a lovely single 'lit bateau' or for couple a mattress on the floor - which is why until I've had a chance to do some works, I'd suggest it's best for someone looking for a long weekend's retreat to write, meditate, catch up on sleep etc for which this place is positively ideal!
A car hire is available at all the local airports. Flights from the UK via Easyjet from Gatwick to Toulouse, from London Stansted to Bordeaux and Bergerac via Ryanair, and via Cityjet from City Airport to Pau.
For some reason the new photos don't immediately show on my ad but you should be able to view them 'underneath' the old ones - or at least I can!
