Housesit in Vieques, Puerto Rico
We are looking for a retired, non-smoking couple who loves animals and enjoy gardening. We have four wonderful dogs who need love, pets and feeding. Our housesitters must water the garden and keep up the property with weeding, mowing and general tidying up as if it were their own home. There is a small organic vegetable garden and various fruit trees on 1/2 fenced acre. This is not an appropriate housesit for someone who needs an outside job.
Our home is comfortable and sturdy with nice landscaping. One of our favorite things is our outdoor shower and tub area and the outdoor gazebo. Our house is two private levels - upstairs is our apt. and downstairs is our guest/caretaker apt. It is located in a typical Hispanic neighborhood with roosters crowing and dogs barking.. Neighbors are close by on one side. Our neighbors are warm families who are always eager to be helpful. We prefer to be living as part of a local neighborhood rather than in a solely "gringo" neighborhood.
It is only an 8 min. drive to the beautiful Caribbean ocean which can be seen in the distance and a 5 min. drive to the grocery store and gas station.
Our downstairs apt. is comfortable and breezy with bedroom, living room, tiled bathroom (shower) and kitchen. We have a washer and dryer in our outdoor utility area.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a responsible, mature couple who loves animals, gardening and the ocean, as we are close to many gorgeous unspoiled beaches.
You might choose to read in our outdoor gazebo hammock or on our little upstairs tiled deck. This is casual, outdoor living with four great dogs (big and small) who will love you.
If we find the right retired couple this could be an annual house-sitting opportunity on our beautiful tropical island. Health issues now force us to be away most of the time.
Spanish is a plus but not at all a necessity. The Post Office is part of the US Postal Service as we are part of the USA. This is convenient as you can ship whatever you want to Puerto Rico by Priority Mail or regular mail. Our house is only for local calls out. We provide WiFI house internet service.
We treat our caretakers like family - communication is key. We have wonderful friends from many of our past caretakers.
